Chris Oliviero was elevated to Executive Vice President of Programming for CBS RADIO in 2013. He previously was Senior Vice President of Programming since 2009, and also took on a supervisory role for CBS Sports Radio in 2012, overseeing the day-to-day operations for the expansive network. Oliviero leads programming development and operations for CBS RADIO’s 117 news, sports, talk and music stations nationwide, as well as manages talent relations and explores new business partnerships and acquisitions.
Beginning his career with CBS RADIO in 1996 as an intern for THE HOWARD STERN SHOW, Oliviero joined Sportsradio WFAN, the nation’s first and most successful all sports radio station, full-time as a producer upon graduation from New York University in 1998. He was named Executive Producer for WNEW 102.7FM in 2000, and became part of CBS RADIO’s corporate staff in 2004, serving first as program coordinator, and later as Director, Original Programming (2004-05) and Vice President of Programming (2005-09).
Oliviero has played a pivotal role in the expansion of CBS RADIO’s sports stations to FM outlets in such major markets as New York, Dallas, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Tampa, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Cleveland. He also has led the hiring of outstanding talent, recruiting and negotiating contracts for the division’s top-rated personalities including Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton, Carson Daly, and Danny Bonaduce, among others.
In addition, Oliviero was key in establishing CBS RADIO’s partnership with the Barclays Center – an alliance that includes broadcast rights to the Brooklyn Nets on WFAN, and has resulted in the creation of several new original concerts and events at the arena.
As part of CBS Sports Radio’s executive team, Oliviero was instrumental in the development of the newly formed network. He executed the plans and aided in the hiring of talent for the new entity, which harnesses the power and resources of CBS’s leading division’s CBS RADIO, and CBS Sports. CBS Sports Radio, which launched 24/7 in January 2013, offers around-the-clock national sports coverage and programming, as well as hourly CBS Sports updates from a variety of esteemed hosts and well-known industry experts, including Jim Rome, Tiki Barber, Brandon Tierney, Doug Gottlieb, Brian Jones, Gregg Giannotti, Damon Amendolara, Scott Ferrall, Esiason and John Feinstein.Back to main menu
