Chris Oliviero was elevated to Executive Vice President of Programming for CBS RADIO in 2013. He previously was Senior Vice President of Programming since 2009, and also took on a supervisory position for CBS Sports Radio in 2012, overseeing the day-to-day operations for the expansive network. In his current role, Oliviero leads programming development and operations for CBS RADIO’s 117 news, sports, talk and music stations nationwide, across 26 major markets. Additionally, he manages talent relations, explores new business partnerships and acquisitions, and oversees the Company’s research activities.
Oliviero has played a pivotal role in the expansion of CBS RADIO’s sports stations to FM outlets in major markets such as New York, Dallas, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Tampa, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Cleveland. He has also taken the lead on recruiting and negotiating contracts for the division’s top-rated personalities including Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton, Carson Daly, and Danny Bonaduce, among others.
In addition, Oliviero was key in establishing CBS RADIO’s partnership with the Barclays Center – an alliance that includes broadcast rights to the Brooklyn Nets on WFAN, and has resulted in the creation of several new original concerts and events at the arena.
As part of CBS Sports Radio’s executive team, Oliviero was instrumental in the development of the national network. He executed the plans and aided in the hiring of talent for the entity, which harnesses the power and resources of CBS’s leading divisions of CBS RADIO and CBS Sports. Launched full time in January 2013, CBS Sports Radio delivers around-the-clock national sports coverage and programming, as well as hourly CBS Sports updates from a variety of esteemed hosts and well-known industry experts, including Esiason, Jim Rome, Tiki Barber, Brandon Tierney, Doug Gottlieb, Brian Jones, Gregg Giannotti, Damon Amendolara, Scott Ferrall, and John Feinstein.
Oliviero began his career with CBS RADIO in 1996 as an intern for THE HOWARD STERN SHOW, before joining Sportsradio WFAN, the nation’s first and most successful all sports radio station, full-time as a producer in 1998. He was named Executive Producer for WNEW 102.7FM in 2000, and then joined CBS RADIO corporate in 2004, serving first as program coordinator, and later as Director, Original Programming (2004-05) and Vice President of Programming (2005-09).
Oliviero graduated from New York University. He resides in Brooklyn, NY with his wife and their two children.Back to main menu
