Glynn Walden has
joined Infinity Broadcasting as Vice President of Engineering,
it was announced today by Joel Hollander, President and Chief Operating
Officer, Infinity and Jacques Tortoroli, Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer, Infinity.
In this new
role, Walden will lead all of Infinity's engineering activities with the
Company's Regional Engineers reporting directly to him.

Walden is the
leading-authority on the IBOC concept, design and economics.
IBOC allows broadcasters to simultaneously
deliver the present analog signal along with a new CD-quality digital signal
within each currently assigned channel.
In his capacity as Vice President of Broadcast Engineering for iBiquity
Digital Corporation, he wrote the IBOC technical and regulatory specifications
for a design team of 50 engineers, scientists and technicians who developed the
IBOC system.
He also authored the
transition plan that allowed broadcasters to move from analog to digital
broadcasting with minimal technical and economic disruptions.
Additionally,
Walden conducted tutorials, demonstrations and provided test results of IBOC
technology to the industry, the National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC), the
International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the FCC and members of Congress,
which led to the FCC approval of IBOC in the United States and a worldwide ITU
standard for digital radio.
Previously,
Walden was the Vice President of Engineering for CBS and Westinghouse where he
worked on capital projects, including station power increases, facility
consolidations and relocations, and served as the Engineering Manager for KYW.
For his
pioneering work in the development of the AM IBOC prototype system, Walden was
awarded the George Westinghouse Signature of Excellence Award in 1993.
He has subsequently been issued three patents
covering IBOC inventions.
Walden began his
radio career at WEDR-FM in Miami
as the station's Chief Engineer.
He also
held the same position at WWOK-AM/FM and WCMQ-AM/FM.
Walden was graduated from Florida International
University.
