INFINITY BROADCASTING NAMES GREG STRASSELL
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, PROGRAMMING
Jon Zellner And Mike Preston To Serve As Vice President Of Hot AC Programming
And CHR/Top 40 Programming, Respectively
Greg
Strassell has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Programming, Infinity
Broadcasting, it was announced today by Steve Rivers, President,
Programming.
The appointment is
effective Monday, March 1.
Strassell
most recently was Vice President, Programming for WBMX-FM, WODS-FM and WZLX-FM
in Boston and
Infinity Broadcasting's Vice President of Hot AC Programming.
In addition, he has served as Program
Director for WBMX since its inception in 1991 and WODS since 2001.
"I'm excited and
thrilled to see Greg advance in the Company," said Rivers.
"He is a tremendous asset and was a
formidable competitor when I worked in Boston.
Greg will do extremely well in making sure
our stations stay focused and are aligned to maximize ratings and revenue."
In
a related announcement, Jon Zellner will take over as Vice President of
Programming for Infinity's Hot AC stations.
Zellner was Vice President of CHR/Top 40 Programming.
He will continue to serve as Vice President of
Programming, Infinity Kansas City and Program Director for KMXV-FM and KSRC-FM.
Additionally,
Mike Preston has been named Vice President of CHR/Top 40 Programming.
A seven-year veteran of Infinity, Preston
also is Program Director for KBKS-FM in Seattle.
Throughout the
past two years, all three radio stations in Boston have maintained a consistent Top 5
presence among adults 25-54.
WBMX is
also one of the few hot AC's in America's
Top 10 markets that consistently averages a Top 5 adult 25-54 rank.
Prior to joining
Infinity, Strassell was Vice President, Programming and Product Development for
American Radio Systems which increased from four to more than 95 stations
during his tenure.
He was instrumental
in successfully programming and launching Hot A/C, CHR, Classic Rock, Oldies,
Alternative and rhythmic stations across the country.
Strassell began
his career as an on-air personality/Program Director for WTCJ in his hometown
of Tell City, Ind. (1978).
From 1980-86, he worked at WOKI in Knoxville,
Tenn. and WSTO in Evansville, Ind.
He has also served as on-air personality for
WEAG in Indianapolis, Ind.
(1986-87), Operations Manager for WROK/WZOK in Rockford,
Ill. (1987-89) and Program Director for Emmis
Communications Rhythmic Top 40, WLOL in Minneapolis,
Minn. (1990-91).
Strassell
has been honored by Radio and Records as Hot A/C Program Director of the Year
(2000, 2001 and 2002) and Airplay Monitor/Billboard as Adult Top 40 Program
Director of the Year (1991, 2002).
He
lives in Squantum, Mass. with his wife, Meredith.
They have two children.
