TONY JARVIS NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, RESEARCH,
INFINITY BROADCASTING


Tony Jarvis has been named Senior Vice President, Research, Infinity Broadcasting, it was announced today by Joel Hollander, President and Chief Operating Officer, Infinity. Jarvis will oversee all radio research for Infinity, including audience measurement and demographic and advertising research. The appointment is effective immediately.

"Tony has been an outspoken champion of developing enhanced audience measurement methodologies and among the most respected researchers in the industry," said Hollander. "His expertise will be invaluable to Infinity as we continue to explore new technology to improve the quality and accuracy of research we deliver to our clients."

Jarvis's broad experience includes both developing and marketing media databases and systems, specifically for the purpose of driving more effective brand marketing based on better consumer and brand insights. He also is recognized as America's leading advocate of Fusion and media optimizers.

Jarvis joins Infinity from MediaCom where he was Senior Vice President, Director Strategic Insights Group since 2000. He and his team were instrumental along many fronts including encouraging improved radio and television measurement via passive meters, introducing the use of magazine velocity data for more effective print planning and buying, developing stricter guidelines on producing magazine prototypes, and embracing modeling to better understand media's contribution in the marketing mix.

Prior to joining MediaCom, Jarvis was Senior Vice President, Director of Strategic Information at CTN Media Group (1999-2000) and before that, Vice President, Media Services at international research provider Millward Brown (1998-99). At Millward Brown, Jarvis was actively involved in several key projects including the groundbreaking Ad Effectiveness Study, a landmark comparison of television and magazines. He ran his own international advertising and marketing consultancy, Jarvis, Sherman & Jarvis, from 1981-98.

Jarvis was honored as "100 People To Know" by Media Post in 2004 and was one of Media Week's Media Research All Stars in 2001. He also presented two papers at the 2004 ARF/ESOMAR Worldwide Audience Measurement Conference in Geneva ("When Less Is More -Critical Issues for Advertisers in Developing a Global Audience Measurement Approach & How VAI's Could Take Outdoor Measurement to a Level of Accountability to Match TV," and "Seeking The Holy Grail - Is Single Source Measurement the Real Knight in Shining Armor for the Media Industry?") and delivered the Wally Langschmidt Memorial address at the SAARF International Symposium in October 2003 ("US Media Companies are Drowning in a Sea of Data. Can Optimizers Provide a Lifeline?").



Jarvis is a member of the Board of Directors of the Advertising Research Foundation and the Media Ratings Council, and was a member of the AAAA's Media Research Council. Jarvis also is a past chairman (1990-92) and board member (1984-98) of the Canadian Advertising Research Foundation.

A former Olympic finalist and the 1968 British Olympic swim team captain, Jarvis was born in Bournemouth, England. He was graduated from London University and received his MBA from the University of Massachusetts in 1972.
