DAN MASON EARNS TOP HONORS ON RADIO INK'S 40 MOST POWERFUL PEOPLE IN RADIO LIST

CBS RADIO President And CEO Commended For Digital Strategy, Industry Foresight

CBS RADIO President and CEO Dan Mason has earned the number one spot on the annual Radio Ink 40 Most Powerful People in Radio list. The industry publication cited his bold drive into the digital realm as an example of the visionary leadership that will carry the industry into the future. This marks the first shift in the list’s highest honors in nearly a decade.

“Bold efforts and aggressive movement into digital initiatives with such online stalwarts as AOL sets him apart as just the kind of leader radio needs today,” notes Radio Ink. “Mindful of what it takes to reignite radio’s core business, but also with a keen eye on where the industry must head in the future, Mason’s elevation is indicative of the leadership he exhibits both within his company and throughout the industry every day.”

A little over one year since his return to the division, Mason has executed a novel strategy that puts particular emphasis on a digital future for the business. A unique synergy with AOL has produced the world’s largest online radio operator, augmenting AOL’s stable of stations with the power of over 140 CBS RADIO stations throughout the nation. The company’s HD stations have launched cutting-edge formats alongside their traditional offerings, ranging from all-psychic channels (www.wycd.com and www.psychiconair.com) to a revived WNEW (www.wnew.com) featuring the former station’s treasured archives.

Scott Herman, CBS RADIO’s Executive Vice President of Operations returns to the list and rounds out the top 10. This is a significant advancement from Herman’s debut at number 15 on the 2006 list.
