"FRESH" NEW SOUNDING ADULT CONTEMPORARY STATION
LAUNCHES IN WASHINGTON, D.C. ON MONDAY, APRIL 6

94.7 FRESH FM FEATURES "TODAY’S FRESH MUSIC" FROM JOHN MAYER, KELLY CLARKSON, THE FRAY, PINK AND LEONA LEWIS, AMONG OTHERS

John Mayer, Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5, Natasha Bedingfield, Sheryl Crow and Daughtry are among the most popular artists in the country, and they’re coming to 94.7 FRESH FM, a completely new radio station launching on Monday, April 6.  The station will be available on-air in Washington, D.C., streaming online at www.947freshfm.com, and via a number of mobile devices, playing music from the 90s through today, and offering a comprehensive interactive experience.

Listeners will be able to connect with the station through texting (94794), by commenting directly on the website, or joining fellow audience members on outlets such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter for real time updates and discussions.

“As we challenged ourselves to rethink the 94.7 frequency we looked at the demographic make-up of the market and how audiences are currently using radio – we then mirrored FRESH FM to fit their lifestyle and tastes,” said Sam Rogers, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, CBS RADIO Washington, D.C..  “Young female listeners are active users of the medium and our current portfolio of stations lacked a dedicated outlet for them to turn to. That all changes with today’s announcement.”

Greg Dunkin will serve as program director of the station.  Dunkin is one of the original architects of the format and has successfully helped launch FRESH FM stations in major markets across the country, including New York and Chicago.

“We really seem to have found a format that passionately resonates with listeners,” said Dunkin.  “And we expect listeners in the D. C. area to embrace it as enthusiastically as others have. The station will deliver a sound that is modern and entertaining with a presentation that is dynamic and personal.”

Added Michael Hughes, Vice President, Programming, CBS RADIO Washington, D.C., “Beyond what we do on-air and online, 94.7 FRESH FM will be an active community participant with a presence at events throughout the area and special programs created exclusively by the station.”
