KATHRYN KERCHER JOINS INFINITY BROADCASTING AS VICE PRESIDENT, INFINITY SOLUTIONS AND BEYOND
Kathryn Kercher has been named Vice President, Infinity Solutions and
Beyond.
ISB is Infinity's in-house
marketing and sales group.
The announcement was made today
by Rich Lobel, Executive Vice President, ISB.
The appointment is effective immediately.
"Kathryn has the amazing ability to find the perfect intersection
between commerce and content," said Lobel.
"She knows exactly just how far to
go in order to organically integrate brands into the fabric of the radio
landscape."
Created in 2003, ISB
is designed to develop innovative multi-dimensional radio marketing platforms
for national advertisers using Infinity's market-leading stations.
Kercher joins Infinity
from Rodale Press where she served as the Director of Marketing and Strategic
Alliances (2003-04).
She was responsible
for managing and directing marketing and new business development efforts across
the Women's Group, which included Prevention, Organic Style and Women's Health magazines
and websites, as well as the book group, including The South Beach Diet
franchise.
During her tenure, she was
successful in pitching, developing and launching the first-ever programs that
integrated promotions/content/online/retail/licensing for Rodale properties
with partners including Bally Total Fitness, drugstore.com, The Limited Brands,
Sony Entertainment, Starbucks and XBox.
In 2002, Kercher served as the Managing Director of the Barnes &
Noble College Marketing Network.
In that
position, she directed youth marketing programs at college retail outlets for
such clients as Coca-Cola, Cingular, Chrysler, Bose and Calvin Klein, as well as launched NeoLibrary, an
in-store, interactive pop-culture discovery center which won an ISP-VM award
for innovative retail design.
From 1999-2001, Kercher was Vice President of Marketing Strategy and
Partnerships at ClickRadio Inc.
While
there, she directed the creative, interactive and brand experience strategy for
online and national marketing campaigns, and developed customer-acquisition and
partnership programs with Wal-Mart, Gateway, Kmart, World Wrestling Federation
and Electronics Boutique.
Kercher has also served as Senior Manager/Strategy Consultant for Cambridge
Technology Partners, a division of Novell Inc. (1989-99); Project Director of
Corporate Branding at BusinessWeek (1996-97); Marketing and Promotions
Director for Northwestern University's School of Music
(1992-95) and Assistant Director of Public Affairs for The Art Institute of
Chicago (1991-92).
Kercher was graduated from Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University with a master's degree in
integrated marketing communications (IMC) in 1996.
She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne.
Kercher resides in Park Slope, N.Y. and Germantown, N.Y.
with her husband, Gunnar Sjursen.

INFINITY BROADCASTING STRENGTHENS RADIO OPERATIONS
IN SAN FRANCISCO
MARKET
Acquires KEAR-FM From Family Stations, Inc.
San Jose's KBAY-FM And
KEZR-FM To Be Divested From Infinity Portfolio
Announcements Follow Previously Announced Sale Of KFRC-AM
Infinity Broadcasting today announced that it has entered
into an agreement to acquire KEAR-FM 106.9 in San Francisco from Family Stations, Inc.
Financial terms of the agreement were not
disclosed.
Additionally, Infinity announced its
intention to sell San Jose
stations KBAY-FM and KEZR-FM.
In March, Family Stations agreed to acquire KFRC-AM in San Francisco from
Infinity.
The acquisition of KEAR-FM
brings the total number of radio stations in the market owned by Infinity to
six, including, KCBS-AM, KFRC-FM, KYCY-AM, KITS-FM and KLLC-FM.
"The acquisition of KEAR-FM, coupled with the sale of KBAY
and KEZR, strongly enhance our position in San Francisco,
the fourth largest radio market in the United States," said Joel
Hollander, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Infinity.
"This move is consistent with our strategy of
concentrating on markets where we generate the most revenue and cash flow."
The transactions are subject to regulatory approvals and
are expected to close later this year.
Infinity is one of the largest
major-market radio operators in the United States, with stations
covering the news, modern rock, oldies, country, FM talk, classic rock and
urban formats, among others.
A division
of Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA and VIAB), Infinity operates 183 radio stations, the
majority of which are in the nation's top 50 markets.
Additionally, Infinity is home to 29 of the
country's leading sports franchises amongst MLB, the NFL, the NBA and the NHL,
including the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Dallas
Cowboys, New England Patriots, New York Giants, Chicago Bears and the Detroit
Red Wings.
