ALL NEWS 740 KCBS EXPANDS BROADCAST DISTRIBUTION TO INCLUDE FM RADIO

Award Winning Station Also To Be Available On 106.9 FM Beginning On Monday, Oct. 27

San Francisco-KCBS 740-AM, Northern California’s only All News radio station, announced today it has added another distribution outlet to the growing list of available ways to receive the station’s content.  Beginning on Monday, Oct. 27 at 7:40AM, PT, the five time national winner of the Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence will be heard on 106.9 FM in addition to 740 AM, online at www.kcbs.com and AOL Radio (http://radio.aol.com), as well as via the AOL Radio application available for download on the iPhone, and a number of internet radios.  Select segments are also available for podcast through the station’s website and iTunes.

“With this announcement we are ensuring our listeners will have access to the superior news and information they’ve come to rely on no matter how they choose to receive audio content,” said Doug Harvill, Senior Vice President and Market Manager for CBS Radio San Francisco.  “And not only that, having the station on the FM radio platform will afford us the opportunity to amass even more consumers of the station.

“The benefits of this move are plentiful – from improved sound quality and ubiquitous distribution, to increased brand exposure.  We’ve always had a great product and we’re thrilled more people will be able to experience what in excess of one million already do on a weekly basis.”

106.9 FM will continue to utilize the KFRC call letters.  The current Classic Hits music heard on 106.9 FM will continue to be broadcast on the station’s HD2 channel and online at www.kfrc.com.

KCBS can trace its lineage as far back as 1909 and has been credited as the World’s first radio station.  The station first began programming All News forty years ago and its news reporting is unparalleled for integrity and recognition.  KCBS and its staff have won every major national honor for excellence in broadcast journalism including multiple Edward R. Murrow, Associated Press, RTNDA and Society of Professional Journalists awards.

Additionally, the station was privileged to receive a Peabody Award and an Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Award for its coverage of the Northern California earthquake in October 1989.
