"Your Sports Station" 105.3 The Fan to Serve as Weekday Flagship Radio Station of Texas Rangers

KRLD-AM Continues Long Standing Partnership With Team Broadcasting Weekend Contests

Your Sports Station, 105.3 The Fan is proud to announce a partnership with the Texas Rangers whereby Dallas/Fort Worth’s newest all-sports radio station will feature live weekday coverage of the AL West team. Live play-by-play coverage of all regular season and playoff games played Monday-Friday will be carried on 105.3 The Fan.  CBS RADIO sister station NewsRadio 1080 KRLD will continue to broadcast play-by-play of weekend games throughout the regular and post-season.

Both stations will carry a limited number of Rangers pre-season games beginning on Thursday, Feb. 26 with The Fan’s coverage of the Cactus League opener versus the Kansas City Royals in Surprise Stadium.

Play-by-play coverage will be led by veteran broadcaster Eric Nadel now in his 31st season with the Rangers - his 15th serving as the lead voice of the team.  Nadel is a four-time recipient of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Texas Sportscaster of the Year Award, and three-time winner of the Associated Press award for best play-by-play in Texas. Dave Barnett will be joining Nadel in his first season providing both play-by-play and color analysis on Rangers radio broadcasts. Barnett spent the last 13 years with ESPN, serving as a play-by-play voice for baseball, basketball, football, and golf telecasts.

In addition to play-by-play coverage, the duo will host pre- and post-game shows which will be broadcast 30 minutes prior to and immediately after the games. Following the post-game program, Mike Ogulnick will host “Rangers Replay” talking live with listeners and providing clubhouse reaction.

“The Rangers are very pleased to make this announcement,” commented team President Nolan Ryan. “The sound, quality, and strength of KRLD-FM’s signal will provide a new listening experience for our fans. Programming conflicts have all but been eliminated, and the consistency in the broadcast schedule means fans will always know where to find the games depending on the day of the week they are tuning in.”

Gavin Spittle, who serves as Program Director for both stations, said, “Since The Fan’s launch less than two months ago we’ve steadily enhanced our lineup with live, local programming catering to the market’s most passionate sports fans.  This announcement continues that strategy and you can expect more along the same lines as we continue to strengthen our brand in the days and months ahead.  I can’t wait to hear the crack of the bat on a 100,000 watt FM signal in addition to hearing it on such a heritage station like KRLD-AM 1080.”

Senior Vice President and General Manager of 105.3 The Fan David Henry commented, “We’ve shared a tremendous relationship with the Rangers for many years and we’re excited to grow it to an entirely new level.  There are tremendous opportunities for our two stations as they work together to promote, and deliver the wealth of programming this agreement provides us.  But mostly the fans and our clients will benefit from the strong commitment we’ve made to feature one of Dallas/Fort Worth’s most popular teams.”

The Rangers spring training radio broadcast schedule increases from 12 to 18 games in 2009.  The complete spring training schedule is listed below.
