CBS Radio's "The World Famous KROQ-FM" To Broadcast On HD2 Stations In Phoenix And San Diego

Second Phase Of Industry Wide Initiative Announces HD2 Format Selection In 16 Additional Markets.

CBS RADIO today announced it will begin broadcasting the country's most listened to Rock station, KROQ-FM in Los Angles, on HD2 stations in Phoenix (KZON-FM) and San Diego (KSCF-FM). "The World Famous KROQ" is among the most successful stations in the industry and the premiere showcase for Rock's newest and greatest artists. The station features top-rated programming including Kevin & Bean, Jed the Fish and LOVELINE.

In addition, CBS RADIO selected multicast programming for 50 more stations in 16 major markets. Secondary formats for over 60 CBS RADIO stations were announced earlier this year. Stations with HD capability will have completed the launch of their new programming within the next three months.

HD radio is the most significant advancement in radio broadcasting since the introduction of FM stereo more than 50 years ago. HD Radio technology enables AM and FM radio stations to broadcast their programs digitally and eliminates the static, hiss, pop and fades associated with analog signals. Other benefits of HD radio include text information on songs to be broadcast directly to receiver display screens, multiple channels on the same frequency, and broader song lists with more music diversity.

CBS RADIO introduced its first HD radio station, New York's WNEW-FM, in 1999. Currently, 69 of the Company's 179 radio stations are using the technology with more being launched every week. Additionally, CBS's WUSN-FM and WJMK-FM in Chicago were among the first stations in the nation to launch continuously programmed HD Radio multicast channels.
