ROY LAUGHLIN NAMED SVP, MARKET MANAGER, CBS RADIO LOS ANGELES
Roy
Laughlin has been named Senior Vice President, Market Manager for CBS RADIO’s
seven Los Angeles
stations. The appointment was made today
by Dan Mason, President and CEO of CBS RADIO, and is effective beginning Tuesday,
September 2.
As SVP,
Market Manager for CBS RADIO Los
Angeles, Laughlin will oversee the company’s cluster
of top rated stations, including KCBS-FM, KNX-AM, KFWB-AM, KLSX-FM, KROQ-FM,
KRTH-FM and KTWV-FM in the second largest radio market. He will report to Mason.
“Roy
is a creative thinker who knows the radio business from the ground up and I
couldn’t be happier to have him on our team,” said Mason. “We’ll be able to benefit from his
ingenuity and ties to the Los Angeles
community of listeners and advertisers which should garner immediate results
for our award winning brands in the market.”
Laughlin is
a veteran of the Los Angeles radio market with myriad executive level positions
– including serving as co-market manager for Clear Channel’s over the air and
online properties from 1997-2005. In
that role he was able to develop a more cohesive operation across the cluster
and increase profitability at the same time.
Additionally,
he was able to secure a significant amount of new business revenue from
“branded entertainment” programs such as Jingle Ball and Rose Bowl Wango Tango. He began his career in the market in 1991 at
KIIS-FM as General Sales Manager and was later promoted to Station Manager in
1994.
As partner in Magic Broadcasting,
Laughlin most recently oversaw the turnaround of 93.5 KDAY-FM in Los Angeles. He’s also worked with C Student Media; served on the Board of Mass 2 One, a
software, consulting and creative service company that provides a portfolio of
products and services that helps leverage the power of permission-based email
marketing; and co-founded GAP Broadcasting comprised of more than 50 radio
stations in Texas and the Southeast.
