FOUR CBS RADIO LEADERS MAKE RADIO INK’S 2010 LIST OF TOP COUNTRY PROGRAMMERS
Radio Ink, one of
the radio industry’s leading trade publications, has released their annual list
of Top Country Programmers. Among those
honored were CBS RADIO’s Becky Brenner (KMPS-FM, Seattle), who topped the list
at No. 1, as well as Tim Roberts (WYCD-FM, Detroit),
Mike Culotta (WQYK-FM, Tampa) and Jeff Garrison
(KILT-FM, Houston). All four were recognized for the dedication
and hard work they put forth to make their stations and personalities the most successful
and engaging in country radio. Each
Programmer and station does an exceptional job joining radio and technology and
finding new ways to connect with listeners on both an interactive and personal
level.
Brenner, who
ranked No. 1 on the 2010 list, is Program Director of KMPS-FM in Seattle and a veteran in
the industry having spent nearly 33 years in the country radio format. She has been honored multiple times by Radio Ink, previously earning the
premier spot on the Top Country Program Directors list a number of times. In addition to her role in programming,
Brenner is the Digital Web Manager for CBS RADIO Seattle and serves as President of the Country
Radio Broadcasters (CRB) Board of Directors.
Roberts,
Operations Manager and Program Director of WYCD-FM in Detroit, who also serves
as Program Director of WOMC-FM, has had a long and prosperous career as a
country radio programmer, with nearly 30 years of experience. He sits on the Board of Directors for the CRB,
is currently the co-chair for the Country DJ Hall of Fame, is part of the
committee for the Country Air Check Radio Awards and serves as a judge for the Country
Music Association’s (CMA) Awards. Under
his direction, WYCD and its morning personalities have been nominated a number
of times for CMA and Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards.
Culotta,
Operations Manager and Program Director of WQYK-FM in Tampa has been with the station for 17 years
serving in a variety of capacities. He currently serves on the ACM Board,
St. Jude Advisory Board and the CRB Executive Board. Culotta and his WQYK
team have been recognized by the ACM’s, CMA’s, Billboard, CRB and Radio &
Records for many awards and honors including Station of the Year, Personality
of the Year, and Humanitarian Station of the Year, among others. Culotta
has previously been named Top Country Program Director by Radio Ink, as
well as Promotion Director of the Year by Radio & Records.
Garrison,
Program Director of KILT-FM in Houston and CBS RADIO’s Vice President of
Country Programming, has been a force in radio for over 28 years; specializing
in the country radio format for 19 years.
During his time at the station, KILT has been nominated for CMA Station
of the Year multiple times and has won CRB’s Best Promotion two times. Among his other honors, Garrison has been nominated
for Program Director of the Year by Radio
& Records and currently serves on the CMA’s Board.
