Chris Oliviero was named Senior Vice President of Programming for CBS RADIO in 2009, while taking on a supervisory role for CBS Sports Radio in 2012. He is part of the corporate team overseeing all programming initiatives on-air and online for the company’s 126 radio stations in the nation’s top markets, ranging in formats from news to sports to music. In addition, he conceived and spearheads CBS Sports Radio, while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the blossoming network. Oliviero also plays a key role in the company’s search for both established and up and coming talent.

Oliviero began his career with CBS RADIO in 1996 as an intern for THE HOWARD STERN SHOW. Upon his graduation from New York University in 1998, Oliviero joined Sportsradio 660AM WFAN as producer. In 2000, he was named Executive Producer for WNEW 102.7FM. Oliviero became part of CBS RADIO’s corporate staff as program coordinator in January 2004, and from July 2004 until July 2005 served as Director, Original Programming for the Company when he was named Vice President of Programming.

In his role as Senior Vice President of Programming, Oliviero is responsible for the programming strategy and development of CBS RADIO’s 127 diversely formatted stations, which operate in many of the nation’s major markets, including all of the top 10 Designated Market Areas (DMA).

As part of CBS Sports Radio’s executive team, Oliviero was instrumental in creating the newly formed network. He executed the plans and aided in the hiring of talent for the new CBS business entity, which harnesses the power and resources of CBS Corporation’s leading radio entity, CBS RADIO, and its award-winning sports property, CBS Sports. CBS Sports Radio, which launched 24/7 on January 2, 2013, offers around-the-clock national sports coverage and programming, as well as hourly CBS Sports updates from a variety of esteemed hosts and well-known industry experts, including Jim Rome, Tiki Barber, Dana Jacobson, Brandon Tierney, Doug Gottlieb, John Feinstein, Scott Ferrall, Damon Amendolara, Boomer Esiason and Tom Tolbert.

Furthermore, Oliviero played a pivotal role in the recent creation and expansion of a series of new FM sports formatted radio stations, in such major markets as New York, Dallas, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Tampa, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Cleveland.

Additionally, Oliviero has led the hiring of outstanding talent, unmatched in the radio industry recruiting and negotiating contracts for the Company’s top-notch personalities. In 2007, he was instrumental in bringing the highly rated Boomer and Carton program to anchor mornings on WFAN, the nation’s first and most successful all sports radio station. His focus on identifying and bringing marquee talent to CBS RADIO extends beyond sports, with additional talent hires including Nick Cannon, Danny Bonaduce and Carson Daly.

Oliviero is an active part of the radio community and serves on a variety of panel, seminars, summits and conferences as a speaker. In 2007, Chris was named as one of the “30 Under 30” by Edison Media Research’s “The Infinite Dial” for his early career accomplishments. In 2009 Radio and Records nominated Chris for News/Talk/Sports Executive of the Year. In 2010 and 2011, Radio Ink named him to their annual list of “Best Corporate Program Directors.” He was born and still resides in Brooklyn, NY.
