Kevin Weatherly serves as Senior Vice President of Programming, CBS RADIO, in addition to Vice President of Programming, CBS RADIO Los Angeles and Program Director of KROQ-FM, KAMP-FM (Amp Radio) and KCBS-FM (Jack-FM), in radio’s No. 2 market. He is involved with the programming initiatives of CBS RADIO’s diversely formatted stations across the nation, consulting and working closely with both new stations like San Diego’s KEGY-FM (Energy 103.7), as well as established leaders, helping them to achieve the programming success synonymous with his name.
Weatherly, who has been with CBS RADIO and KROQ for over two decades, has been recognized numerous times for his noteworthy achievements in the radio industry with awards, distinctions and honors from virtually every trade and music publication, including Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Times, Entertainment Weekly, Los Angeles Business Journal, Billboard, The NAB, FMQB and Radio and Records, to name a few.
Weatherly’s career in radio began at the age of 12, at KPIN in Casa Grande, solidifying his love of radio. From 1983-87 he worked as a disc jockey and Music Director at KZZP in Phoenix, later moving on to the Music Director role at KMEL, San Francisco in 1987. From there, Weatherly became Music Director at KIIS, Los Angeles in 1988, before heading to San Diego in 1989 to serve as Assistant Program Director, and later Program Director of Q106. In 1992, he arrived at KROQ and has been there ever since, expanding his role within the Los Angeles market and at a Corporate level.
While he is most recognized for his overwhelming achievements at No. 1 alternative rock station KROQ, Weatherly is also instrumental in the ratings success and programming of adult hits KCBS and Top 40 KAMP in Los Angeles. In addition to KROQ’s massive success, KCBS is the leading adult hits station in the nation and KAMP has skyrocketed under Weatherly, consistently growing its presence and becoming a contender in the well-established marketplace, while accruing talent such as Carson Daly and Booker.
