97.1 AMP RADIO (KAMP-FM) announced today that Carson Daly will host morning drive (6:00-10:00am, pt) beginning Monday, January 4, 2010. Carson returns to his radio roots in Southern California where, in the past, he worked for 106.7 KROQ in Los Angeles. His four hour program will be heard on-air, and online at http://www.ampradio.com/, as well as myriad mobile devices including the iPhone and Blackberry.
"It is very exciting to be back on the airwaves doing mornings on AMP RADIO and to be back in business with my friends at CBS RADIO,” said Daly. “Now, not only can people fall asleep to my late night show on NBC, but they can wake up with me on the radio too. I'm thrilled to join a thriving new station in my own hometown.”
After doing nights on the world famous KROQ, Carson became host of MTV’s Total Request Live. In 2002, he moved to late night television for “Last Call with Carson Daly,” currently in its ninth season. In addition to his experience at KROQ, MTV’s TRL and Last Call with Carson Daly, Carson also anchors New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly live from Times Square, now in its sixth year.
“I’m psyched to once again be working with Carson,” said Kevin Weatherly, Senior Vice President, Programming, CBS RADIO and Program Director for 97.1 AMP RADIO. “He is a true superstar with undeniable energy and talent. It’s exciting to be part of the next chapter of his radio career and it’s going to be fun having him wake-up LA. He’s got the perfect vibe for AMP RADIO.”
KAMP-FM launched its new format on Friday, February 20. Carson joins an AMP RADIO air staff that includes Booker in middays (10:00AM-3:00PM), Stryker in afternoons (3:00-7:00PM) and Casey McCabe at night (7:00PM-12:00Midnight).
