It was just announced that WQYK-FM has been awarded the prestigious CMA Major Market Station of the Year. In addition to the overall station win, the afternoon drive team of Randy Price and Dave McKay were honored as Major Market Broadcast Personalities of the Year.

The CMA Awards represent the pinnacle of achievement for Country Music artists, musicians, producers, publishers, songwriters, and industry executives who work in America's most popular music genre. The awards are voted on by industry peers and are based on the nominee’s ratings performance, air check, leadership, and community service.

This marks the second Station of the Year award for WQYK, having won the same category in 2001, as well as being nominated as a finalist eight times.  Additionally, Randy Price and Dave McKay, heard weekdays from 3-7 PM on-air and online at were nominated in 2007 for Broadcast Personalities of the Year.

“This unprecedented achievement represents the dedication, hard work and passion our entire staff puts towards Country Music and our listeners,” said Mike Culotta, Operations Manager for WQYK-FM.  “We were up against some of the best stations in the business and it’s great to know that our peers see that WQYK is stronger than ever.”

Randy and Dave are just as delighted with the acknowledgment. “What makes it truly special is being recognized as Personalities of the Year on the Radio Station of the Year, WQYK,” said Randy and Dave. “There’s always been something special about WQYK and that’s why we’ve been here together for twelve years.”

The station and Randy and Dave will be recognized during the 42nd Annual CMA Awards, which will be broadcast live Wednesday, Nov. 12 (8:00 PM) on ABC Television.
